Zinda Foods’ unique AirWraps have been shortlisted in the finals for two categories in the Quality Food and Drink Awards for 2019. The awards are the most prestigious awards for food and drink products on sale in UK grocery outlets and this year celebrate 40 years of rewarding quality in the food and drinks industry. Zinda Foods’ Moroccan Chicken AirWraps have been shortlisted in the Small Producers category and are also in the Food to Go Sandwiches category up against major supermarket brands.

The company’s founder and CEO Anishya Kumar will find out if her AirWraps will collect an accolade at a glittering awards ceremony held on November 22 at The Brewery on Chiswell Street, London. This has already been a great year for Anishya who was recently named Businesswoman of the Year in the British Indian Awards 2019. Anishya relocated to the UK 13 years ago from Bombay giving up her corporate consulting life to pursue her passion and dream of becoming a food entrepreneur. Starting with a meagre £200 pounds from her home kitchen 4 years ago, Zinda Foods moved into their own BRC Accredited premises in 2017 & now produces 12,000 wraps a week for over 60 Tesco stores and employs 12 staff. The company has seen a growth of 9 times since the last quarter & are set to expand further.

“Being nominated for the Quality Food Awards is very humbling for me, particularly to be in the running alongside products by major supermarkets in the food to go category”, said Anishya. “The AirWrap is just the first step in our journey and we have several more lines in new product development.”

More than a thousand products were put through the Quality Food Awards’ three week judging process which adheres to very strict criteria and evaluates products based on taste, flavour, texture, ingredients, innovation and aims within the marketplace. The judges also score on price point, value for money and provenance.
